This post bring us to last part of “Honeymoon Trilogy” ! Singapore, Thailand, Bali !
Bali is one of a kind island ! Coming there from Singapore reminded us on Thailand indeed! We stayed there for a week, and we spent an entire week exploring the island. Every morning we would get up at around 6am, go to breakfast and then meet with our driver to start our tour.
Me and Marina got married 12th of September 2009 and decided to spend our honeymoon in Thailand – Bali – Singapore.
I will write here about Bali because I’m so excited just by watching the pictures from my collection and very proud that we were able to see everything within 7 days. Bali is simply magical, probably the most beautiful island in whole Indonesia. It’s a real tropical heaven with silver sand beaches, crystal clear water, coral Lagunas, magnificent temples through the whole island, and with huge jungles and still active volcanoes.
We were seated in a beautiful hotel full of flowers, amazing flavors were coming from the spa center to our rooms. Kind staff wearing amazing national uniforms welcomed us always with smiles on their faces. There was a sense of peace and warmth and reminded us of a heaven on earth.
While surfers were catching waves, we were relaxing and enjoying the sight of that. One more thing that I would mention, for those who don’t know, Bali is the favorite place for the world famous surfers. Early in the morning our guide would come, and lead us on the tour of the entire Bali where we met the culture of one nation and saw a magnificent wealth of this country.
Our first big impression was incredible vegetation but also the natives of Bali because a smile is always on their faces and they are so kind. Their day is full of events and activities regarding their religion. The also interesting thing about them is that they are hardworking people and gifted considering art. Just passing by their workshops we enjoyed and admire that talent. They make statues out of everything – stone, bamboo tree and other things, just amazing.
Out of very rich tourist offer, we decided to visit Tanah Lot temple, located on sea coast built in the 16th century. It is built out of one rock piece and seeing that for the first time was really impressive. Natives told us that this place is best on the whole island to watch and enjoy at the sunset. That was important info for us, newlyweds and it was really romantic.
Maybe the most fantastic and special are the fields of rice and you can see them everywhere and also enjoy in that sight which describes Bali in one way. Some of those rice fields are on plains and some on slopes. They are called rice terraces and as you can see on some of our pictures they look surreal.
In this tour among many things was included visit to one of two active volcanos on Bali. From the great viewpoint, we made some amazing photos and enjoyed in their national kitchen where the rice is the most important ingredient. In the mix with meat, fish and vegetables that present a really tasty meal and we enjoyed every bite of it. That day we also visit lake Bratan, which is also volcano origin and in the shape of half moon. There is temple Pura Ulun Danu, great place for photos and Marina used that chance to make many great photos of us and sights.
After temples next walked through the forest who is filled with coconut trees. You barely see the sky from those coconuts, rare and unique view. Forest guards, in this case, are the monkeys following your every step. Well, that’s the reason why this forest is Forest of Monkeys.
Forest and monkeys were done and we enjoyed in traditional Indonesian dance. Costumes and their moves which combined give the sort of weird dance is something that left really strong impressions on our side. Admiration and respect for their culture in first place and also surprise and the smile on our faces.
Last day was reserved for relaxing and visiting zoo’s. They are filled with incredible insects and animals. Marina had to touch every one of them and you can see some of that on pictures bellow. After that we went on boat ride and boat had see-through bottom that allowed us to see many different turtles, snakes, fishes. Later we tried snorkeling, drove water ski and enjoyed in some extreme water sports and paragliding. That adrenaline feeling is just great, I love it 😉
